About the Brands
We choose the brands we sell really carefully and we're passionate about them all. We’ve got tough criteria when it comes to the selection process - if we don’t want to use it or wear it ourselves, we don't want to sell it to you, either. Read on to find out more about the brands we stock.

Celtic Sheepskin
View Celtic Sheepskin in store
The softest, warmest, snuggliest boots you'll ever put your feet into ... Made just up the road from us in
Newquay, they are standard après-surf wear here, but even if you’re nowhere near the beach, they'll keep
your toes toasty all winter. They never smell and if they get grubby, just chuck them in the washing machine.
What did we wear on chilly days on the beach before we had Celt boots?
Flexifoil
View Flexifoil in store
Flexifoil has been the market leader in traction
kites since the very beginning of the sport way back in the 1970s. The company has an amazing 'grass roots' approach to kite development and they
are always out in front when it comes to new products and improvements to existing technology. At
the Shop on the Beach, we’ve been personally flying Flexifoils for over 10 years
and we've never been disappointed. Behind the products is an excellent customer service back up – their 30 day free
repair service (if you damage your kite in the first month of use, Flexifoil will repair it for free) is brilliant.
Hager Vor Surf Wear
View Hager Vor surf wear in store
Most of surf fashion is in the hands of huge corporations, none of which are British. We thought it was high
time we supported something a little more local, which is why we chose Hager Vor surf wear as one of our key surf brands.
This is a small company based in Cornwall and run by surfers, making great quality hoodies and tees. If you’re
not one for following the crowd and big, global companies don’t do it for you, Hager Vor surf wear is the answer.
Merrell
View Merrell in store
Not so long ago, we only sold Salomon technical footwear, because we knew it was brilliant quality and
really worked in tough conditions. Then we took a look at Merrell, and saw that it was of the same
uncompromising quality (just like Salomon, we’ve never had a pair returned to us as faulty) but with
slightly more fashion-oriented designs. Merrell is perfect for those who like the outdoors but also
love to stand out from the crowd.
Onfire
View Onfire in store
We’re always amazed that Onfire can produce such high quality clothes at such good prices. We stock their
'Coastal' range of clothes, which are great for lazy days on the beach – tees, hoodies, jackets and pants
that layer really well. The fabrics they use have a luxuriously soft feel, making it look as though you’ve
spent far more on your outfit than you really did.
O'Neill
View O'Neill in store
The first ever wetsuit brand, and still the best. There’s so much to say about O'Neill wetsuits,
it’s hard to know where to begin – it’s probably easier to list all the good things about them:
- O'Neill has the best range of suits, from beginner’s, low cost versions to top of the range.
- O'Neill is ahead of every other brand in terms of fabric technology, which means that their
suits perform better than any others.
- O'Neill is a truly customer-led company – they always listen to customer feedback and act on it.
- They take women surfers seriously – they don’t make patronizing suits that look lovely but
don’t really fit or work. O’Neill’s women's suits are as technically ahead of the game as their
men's, but are designed to fit the female shape perfectly.
- O'Neill's branding is subtle – there are no 'in your face' logos or designs. O'Neill don’t
expect you to do their advertising for them.
- O'Neill winter wetsuits really do allow you to get in the water all year round in comfort;
they are designed to fit properly and keep you warm – essential in this country!
Patagonia
View Patagonia in store
Patagonia is one of the most ethical clothing companies on the planet. They recycle plastic bottles
to make their fleeces, use only organic cotton in their tee shirts and are always striving to reduce
the environmental impact they make. But that’s not the only reason we love Patagonia – their technical
clothing really works, and their lifestyle designs make us feel good. Their jackets may not be the cheapest,
but wow, they keep you seriously warm and dry. And despite our best efforts, not a single member of staff
here has managed to wear one out yet. We’re all Patagonia addicts at The Shop on the Beach.
Salomon
View Salomon in store
We’ve always been big fans of Salomon footwear. Living by the beach, we see a lot of wild weather,
so solid, well-made footwear is essential. Not one of us at The Shop on the Beach has ever been let down
by Salomon shoes – no matter what we throw at them, they keep our feet warm, dry and comfortable –
which could well be why we never have Salomon shoes returned to us as faulty. If you buy a pair of
Salomons, you’ll be a fan for life, too.
Surftech
Surftech technology is almost certainly the future of surfboard production. Yes, they cost a bit more,
but the payback is worth it – because of the boards’ incredible durability, the lifespan of a Surftech
is way, way longer than that of a custom board, which is great for resale value. It’s no surprise that
most of the world’s top shapers are signed up to Surftech – they know that this technology is the way
forward. If you’re still not convinced, get down to Watergate Bay and try one of our demo boards.
It will change the way you think about board construction for ever.
Whitestuff
We’ve been stocking White Stuff for a few years now and every season they surprise us with even better
designs and higher quality fabrics. We love White Stuff because their clothes have a quirky sense of
humour and fun, yet are always cut to flatter and make you feel good. They make the best women’s skirts in
the world – brilliantly funky designs that are always a talking point – so much so that some designs have
become collector’s items. If you like your clothes to put a smile on your face, you can’t go wrong with White Stuff.
