The new generation Proton is an outstanding kite for freeriders and waveriders. This version is the largest at 12m, yet it still offers incredible agility, stability and predictability. Best of all, you'll find the 12m Proton 2 so easy to relaunch - suddenly, your time in the water becomes much higher quality.
This stunning kite is balanced and responsive whether you're on flat water or riding waves. It's an excellent all-rounder of a kite, great for all levels of kitesurfer, from beginners to experienced kitesurfers.
The Proton gains stability from its natural ‘nose up’ position – you won’t find it falling from the sky without warning. With a powerful profile and mid aspect ratio, the kite is responsive and easy to feel. It also has a forgiving quality, ideal for those progressing in the sport. Quick to turn and quick to depower when you need it, waveriders love this kite; the reliability and predictability make this the go-to kite for freeriders.
It may be quick, but the Proton is also safe - Flexifoil’s primary release system kills 90% of the power instantly, giving you total control and the colour coded lines make setting up easy and safe. With new leading edge construction standards and a kite thoroughly crash tested in the Sahara desert, you can be confident in the build quality of this exceptional kite – beginners can do their worst and the Proton will still come up smiling.
A rigid strut system makes the Proton phenomenally strong, creates exceptional bar feedback and maximises aerodynamic performance. The Dacron cage protects the high stress areas, leading edge kevlar/neoprene reinforcements have been used to protect every circumferential seam and wear patches have been placed on any potential wear points near the toggle.
The Proton’s aerofoil is designed to provide powerful boost, good low-end performance and lots of depower. This kite is resistant to back-stalling as the aerofoil will naturally “nose-up” when the lines go slack.
Getting out on the water is now quicker, too – the Proton’s E-Z Inflation single point system means you have less work to inflate the kite and Flexifoil has also included wingtip dump valves on each wing tip to make packing down easier and quicker.
Josh Coombes, kitesurf instructor at Watergate Bay and Flexifoil sponsored rider, has this to say about the Proton:
'The Proton has a wide canopy - it picks up the wind brilliantly, handles well in gusty conditions and turns quickly. It gives good loft and hang time. Excellent de-power capabilities make this kite perfect for teaching.'
The 12m Proton has a wind range of approx. 15-25 knots.
This version is the 12m in Red. This is sold as 'Kite Only' - this kite comes with a pump, but you will need to purchase lines and bar. Flexifoil recommend the All in One 54cm bar with 4 x 20m/340kg (66ft/750lb) + 4 x 2.5m/340kg (8ft/750lb). |
